In late January, Fulbright alumni and visiting students/scholars from the Tampa Bay area gathered in St. Petersburg to explore two of the city’s glass art museums. The day started with a guided tour of the Imagine Museum, which features contemporary studio glass art from American and International artists. Lunch, followed by a walk and coffee provided an opportunity for members to further discuss art and share their Fulbright experiences. In the afternoon, the group toured the Chihuly Collection, a permanent exhibit of world-renown glass-blown sculptures by David Chihuly. The visit was significant since Dave Chihuly himself was a Fulbrighter to Italy in 1968. The day concluded with a demonstration at the Morean Arts Center where the group learned the ins and outs of glass blowing.
